"3D Animation And Modeling Software | Maya | Autodesk"
Maya, more formally known as Autodesk Maya, is a computer graphics software program that renders images in 3D. It is commonly used for 3D animation in movies, games and films; as well as 3D modeling for architectural designs or structures. It is also utilized for presentations, adding eye-catching visual effects to make presentations more interesting.
The software was first developed by Alias Systems Corporation; but continuing development of the software is now undertaken by Autodesk, Inc. The software uses node graph architecture, where each component of the object is assigned its own node; the result of which is an interconnection of a network of nodes to render a scene in 3D.
The latest version of the software, Autodesk Maya 2013, comes with a new node editor to make the creation, editing and debugging of nodes faster and easier. It also comes with a variety of other tools to make objects appear as life-like or as realistic as possible.
Maya nHair for instance, allows the designer to render hair images that look very realistic; and for realistic animal hair, the application utilized is known as Fur. Other components include nCloth, nParticle, Maya Live, MatchMover and Camera Sequencer.
